I'm so happy that it worked for you too. Mine has actually died again, crazy. But I haven't had the time to re-bake it, as I now have a new laptop. But I imagine one day soon, I'll try to bring it back to life. It's a shame it keeps happening. I fear that one of these days it's not going to come back. Thanks HP.

Re: Towels are a laptop’s best friend? My HP dv9000 was in the exact condition you just spoke of w/ yours. I actually took the whole thing apart and used a hair dryer on the GPU but no luck. (No time to go buy a heat gun to 'reflow solder' the darn thing)(also cleaned a thick layer of dust from the fan parts). I wrapped mine with everything attached and let it run 30 mins, then cool for 10 mins - NO LUCK at restart. I wrapped again and let it run for 15 more mins w/ no cool down period - Just hit the power off then back on and VOILA. Has worked perfectly for a week now thank goodness. (and this thing stays on all day!) I feel more confident now that it should last even longer from reading your post and update. I do think eventually I'll do the reflow solder trick but this is so much easier! Good luck.

Re: Towels are a laptop’s best friend?
